Porch Goose

Nothing quite says Midwest like a well-dressed porch goose, and we're no strangers to the phenomenon! In fact, if you're a local, maybe you've seen our own porch goose Chester, as he guards our pick up packages. :)

If you're not familiar with the porch goose, he is but a humble chunk of concrete in the shape of a goose - painted or unpainted - to greet visitors and be an easy way to decorate for the holidays. Costumes change with the season and can include leprechauns, Easter bunnies, Uncle Sam, Lady Liberty, a squirrel, a giraffe, a bumblebee, and more. What can't a porch goose be, really? (We've even got a little USPS postal worker uniform for ours).

For more on the nuance on this history of porch geese, check out this article from the Atlantic. Apparently our delight in Chester is part of a hipster resurgence, but I just like to think of it as a chance to find joy in the little things.

Porch Goose, the yarn, is a light grey with splashes of neon pink and lemon yellow.
