February '21 YOTM: Eggshelland

by Dye Mad Yarns

$28.00

Beginning in 1957, the Manolios of Lyndhurst, Ohio began decorating their front lawn in giant mosaics with thousands of hand painted eggs. It continued by the original designers until 2013 as a last homage to the family patriarch, Ron Manolio, who passed away in 2012.

In 2014, Eggshelland found a new home at the Lyndhurst tennis courts. In 2019, the eggshells made a return and were displayed in the Richmond Town Square of Richmond Heights, Ohio (it didn't return in 2020 due to Covid, and yet to be determined if it'll return this year).

Eggshelland only last 10 days a year, going up on palm Sunday through the Tuesday after Easter. The designs had been covered in Ripley's Believe It or Not, and there's even a documentary about it!

Eggshelland, the yarn, is a pastel rainbow, because nothing quite says the return of Spring like Easter pastels.
