Fireflies

by Dye Mad Yarns

$24.00

First seen in Chester's Skein Society June 2023 and now part of our permanent collection is Fireflies!

At 2022’s Great Lakes Fiber Festival, Kelley found a beautiful bump of a navy fiber with green silk neps from Hidden Valley Farms called Fireflies and we fell in love with it. We knew we want to do something similar on finished yarn, so this yarn is inspired by… Fireflies! Or lightning bugs, depending on where you’re at.

So a bit on these enchanting little beetles. Yes beetles! Our US bound little buddies tend to like the warmer, wet states, but do find homes in the midwest and northeast as well. Due to the usual suspects (light pollution, habitat loss, pollution and pesticides), more than 130 species are considered threatened or endangered, and there’s unfortunately a pretty good chance that these magical little creatures will die out in our lifetimes. So make sure to take a minute to enjoy them while we can. Ashley’s dog Indy asks every night during summer to go outside and see them.
